So I have a birthday in a few weeks, and my mom's wanting to know what to get me. I've been wanting a new wallet for over 7 months now but I'm so picky that it's hard to find one to suit all my needs. Sanrio usually does a good job though, so I was looking through their site. I found two that are super cute and I can't decide. LJ poll time!!

[Poll #1143427]

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for a reasonably priced DVD player that can be hacked to be region free? I've looked around online at the hack lists but am having trouble finding one listed that is sold at Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Circuit City, and the likes.

Thank you!

EDIT: I have deemed Kuromi: Cherries the winner. Thank you, to those of you who helped in this task! Mommy, you may click the link now and bestow upon me even more gifts because I guess society feels that the gift of LIFE isn't enough.

I have a really cheap APEX brand DVD player (model AD-1100W) that I got from my dad and was able to hack. I heard Walmart use to tell this brand a lot....OR you could try ebay, I think they have them too :)

Btw, you totally made me miss Pochacco, hehe

I miss Pochacco too! I never saw him in Japan either! I once read that certain characters are more popular in certain countries, and Americans liked Pochacco.

hmmm...wallets...

They both look cute to me...but I usually go for how many cards the wallet can hold. ^^;

That said, I couldn't decide. They both look adorable to me. ^_~
(Get both!)

I do have a lot of cards. @_@ And I like for a wallet to have a large coin compartment because I always seem to have lots of change.

I've been lurking around that site typing in model names and numbers but I don't think many people have tried hacking the newest ones to submit codes. I'll keep checking back though!

I like the Kuromi one :3 The Hello Kitty one's sweet, but it seems a bit too typical(for me anyway :3)

Yeah, Kitty's kinda mainstream while Kuromi's still a little unknown around here. Plus the Kuromi one is more fun, while the Kitty one just looks more adult.

My Phillips DVP5140 was sold at Best Buy or Future Shop hacked region free. It was 90-115$ canadian but then again I can't really remember.

I love the hello kitty one.

I'm thinking Philips is the one that can be hacked easily, but my dad is all, "Don't buy one of those. Look for a Sony." They're freaking out over this Blu-Ray/HD thing too, so wish me luck talking them into getting the model I want.

This is totally random, but if you pick the "Kuromi: Cherries" then, since its black, after you've used it for years it wont be all sad and dirty looking like the pastel one will. XD Sorry, completely practical way of looking at it.

I'm with ya on that one. The wallet I have now (Charmmy Kitty) is made out of pink fabric and it looks like a 4-year-old has dragged it through the mud. >_< I'm thinking black would have more longevity.

I have to admit. I don't really fancy Hello Kitty. But this Hello Kitty one is really cute. I like the colour, and eee, daisies! I love daisies. :)))

Everybody here thinks I like Hello Kitty (mainly because they can't tell the difference between Charmmy and Kitty-chan), but actually, I just like Sanrio in general. Kitty just seems to be the most popular thing around here. (Even though I think she's kinda boring and ugly.)

How could one not know the difference? It's so obvious that Charmmy's a Persian and Kitty's a spunky street cat. *coughs*

I hope you didn't take offence by what I said though. I don't think Kitty's ugly... just very, very cute. I love cute things. I think after my fascination with Japan started, I'm beginning to sport stuffs with cute designs - something which the past-angsty Dee would cringe at.

Just recently, I bought a coin pouch designed by Shinzi Katoh (http://www.shinzikatoh.com/english/online.html), and I think he's my new favourite designer. ♥

(crap i am looking at katoh's catalogue now. instead of working *whisles*)

Amirite? But people here are dumb and just look at my stuff and say, "Oh, she's got more Japan crap." With my Blue Bear day planner, embroidered pencil case, Sanrio pens and pencils, plushie keychains, and my mobile phone and iPod covered in stickers, they think I'm a complete 5-year-old. *sigh*

Katoh's stuff is so cute! It looks like the things they sell in the zakkaten like Itsudemo and Afternoon Tea! I miss those places so much! ;_;

Philips is usually easy to hack (I hear). Mine was ridiculously easy (just punching in some numbers on the remote), but it's an older model that might not be in stores anymore. However, it is a Philips.

After you told me about typing in hack codes, I found some sites on the internet that list them. If I can't get one from a site that sells region free, I may just have my parents buy me a player and wait until someone figures out the codes for it.

i only picked the black one since i think the white/beige one will get dirty faster (but you might be a very clean person compared to me ;P)

for the dvd player, sorry but i don't have any idea! D: i don't use one or have a tv for that matter >.>

That's the problem with the wallet I have now. It's pink fabric and looks terrible because I handle it all the time. =/ I think black would look better over time, and I am a big fan of cherries anyway.

The poll is pretty close! I picked Kuromi, I think the style is cuter. And the black stands out more.

I think I'm leaning towards the Kuromi one. I feel that Kitty is just everywhere in America but Kuromi is still kinda rare.

That's what I was thinking when I picked Kuromi. You can go anywhere and buy a Hello Kitty wallet! I tend to like things that aren't popular.

Like the colours on Kuromi better but Hello Kitty looks more handy. CAN'T DECIDE.

You don't have those cheap, region free players there? My first player cost about $65 and was especially amazing at playing crappy copies of bootleg Indian movies :D. One of these: http://www.denver-electronics.com/pages/products.asp?subgroupguid=2663&menuGuid=5386&subMenuguid=5395#
